November 1, 12:00-1:00 pm: Brown Bag Lunch: Tara Gohr and Erin Hielkema, Co-Directors of The Grants Collective, will be presenting about our work at the national Grant Professionals Association conference in San Diego later in November. In preparation for that conference, they’ll be delivering part of the presentation here at The Grants Collective! Topics to be discussed include the opportunities and challenges of being in a philanthropic divide state, learnings from our dynamic in-person and online community over the past year, and where we plan to go from here. This event will be open to everyone. Bring your lunch and join us!
Nov 13, 11:00a-12:00p: Reading Circle: Join us for our bi-monthly reading circle as we discuss “Just Change: How to Collaborate for Lasting Impact.”Author Tynesia Boyea-Robinson is from Living Cities, and the book covers case studies focused on innovative approaches to large-scale social change. We hear there are some case studies of ABQ’s work with Living Cities included! From the book jacket: “…equitable access to opportunities for all citizens is the key to a sustainable national economy. In order to effectively address systemic inequities in our society, we must disrupt the way we think about and approach social change.”
The book is available from Amazon and other sellers online.
November 14, 1:00-3:00 pm: Curbside Consulting
Have you ever needed more eyes on your current grant projects? Network members can come to our office for a free, 30-45 minute consultation and we’ll match you with expert advice to talk about your project. Come prepared to talk about a grant application or concept, have us review a draft, or work through tricky pieces with you.
Not a member? Curbside Consulting is also a great time to get a hands-on demonstration of the Online Platform – designed to make grant seeking easier for you! Let us know you’re coming and we’ll give you a tutorial to see if membership in the Cooperative Network will help you achieve your grant seeking goals.
November 20, 12:00pm-1:00 pm: Brown Bag Luncheon
Join us for a discussion on the importance of the budget and budget narrative in a grant proposal. We’ll share best practices, templates, and effective strategies to put together a budget that complements and strengthens your proposal. If you have specific questions you’d like answered, please email them ahead of time and we’ll be sure to cover it!

The Grants Collective is excited to participate in #GivingTuesdayNM this year and hope you’ll join us! We’ll be posting success stories from our first Talent Academy cohort and featuring some of their great work online. We offer two opportunities each month for Network members to receive hands-on advice about their grant projects. Joins us for either or both!
Last week, we welcomed Stephen Jochem (pictured above) from the Congressional Delegation to talk more about how his office can support the work of local nonprofits. Members, if you missed this special event, find Stephen’s presentation and notes on the members-only platform.
As a member, you will receive preferred access to our trainings and online platform. With the online platform, you’ll be able to:
- Access upcoming grant opportunities from our online calendar and research non-deadline driven opportunities. These are all screened for New Mexico eligibility, eliminating the work on your end.
- Access grant seeking resources that are all in one convenient site – federal budget forms, data research tools, best practice articles, and more.
- Connect and collaborate with other grant professionals in our community and share resources and knowledge. You can directly message other members or tag them on grant opportunities that you’d like to discuss. Ask questions about your grant proposals or processes and receive feedback from a larger grant seeking community!
The Grants Collective is a great way to connect to a community of grant professionals for advice, collaboration, and resources.
Subscriptions are $50/month or $500/year. (If you’re a New Mexico Thrives member, you can subscribe for $400/year.)
